Hello to all! While we all know that March is a transitional time for Western New York, we are springing ahead both literally and figuratively into a new chapter for the year. 

At Chili Liquor, we have celebrated March Merlot Madness in the past, but this year we want to do something different: a celebration of Malbec! Rustic, spicy, and richly-colored, malbec is a grape typically grown in Argentina & France (Bordeaux, Cahors). Though the styles of malbec development vary from place to place, this grape tastes of dark berries but with complexity– it delivers a fruity flavor with a bold, leathery, rich feel. This grape walks the line of being both perfect for a summer barbecue and hearty enough to sip in the winter… also known as the perfect wine for Rochester spring! In the world of wine and spirits, March is basically analogous for Irish whiskey and Irish cream! Everyone knows and loves the Baileys and the Jameson products, but there is a whole world of Irish products that are often unjustly overlooked! We are here to clear the air on these more mythical products: what to buy, how to use them, and why we like them!

Keeper’s Heart Triple Pot Still Whiskey $47.99/700ml: Keeper’s Heart is a brand we love to rep at Chili liquor. They are unique due to their approach to whiskey making: Irish tradition applied to American styles of whiskey, such as bourbon. Their Triple Pot still is one of their newest products in our store, and it went down a great treat at our last tasting! Also… did we mention… Their Master Distiller is THE Brian Nation of Midleton and Redbreast? Yeah, you want this whiskey. 

Tullamore Dew Gift Set $28.99/750ml: The Tullamore Dew we know and love, now with a complimentary pint glass AND shot glass. Bring your own beer, but the Tully gift set supplies the rest. 

Northcross Irish Whiskey $19.99/750ml: A brand of tried and true Irish whiskey that we have on a special price reduction!  

Shanky's Whip $24.99/750ml: Truly a one-of-a-kind spirit! Shanky’s is the original black liqueur and Irish whiskey blend, resulting in a rich spirit that tastes of cream, vanilla, and caramel. While you can definitely enjoy this spirit on its own, there are so many fun ways to enjoy it: put it in your coffee, shake it up in an espresso martini, chill it down in a shot glass, turn it into an old fashioned, or even just throw some whipped cream on top. Everyone we know who has tried this has loved it. You won’t be disappointed. 

Celtic Honey $26.99/750ml: Another unique twist on an Irish whiskey!  Herbal with notes of clover, the recipe for Celtic Honey is inspired by a honey-mead recipe of the Irish-Celtic tribes meant to bring on good luck. 

Ryan’s Irish Cream $10.99/750ml: This Irish cream is JUST AS GOOD as Bailey’s, only it’s half the price. If you’re planning on mixing an Irish cream for any reason (coffee, ice cream, espresso martini), Ryan’s is the way to go. Plus, we have it in a gift set with a complimentary mug.
