Château Clerc Milon has the hallmark elegance of the finest Pauillac wines, as well as good ageing potential.
Grape Varietals:
51%Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenère
Tasting Notes:
The wine is a crystal-clear garnet red with violet highlights.
The fresh and elegant nose exudes ripe morello cherry aromas, followed by subtle notes of liquorice and toast to complete a rich and complex yet light and airy bouquet. Initially refined and silky, the palate gathers power on finely chiselled tannins wrapped in crisp flavours of red fruit, dark chocolate and dried flowers.
The rich and harmonious palate leads into a stylish and succulent finish with a slightly minty freshness.
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast, January 2018. "Densely structured and firm, this wine has weight, rich black fruits and great concentration. The tannins are still considerable, with obvious potential. This estate is now on top form. Drink this impressive wine from 2026."
93 Points - Falstaff, March 2019. "Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. Delicately leafy-spicy cherry fruit, delicate cassis, tobacco, delicate noble wood spice. Juicy, elegant, freshly structured, integrated tannins, red berry touch in the finish, good minerality, already well developed and easily accessible."
93 Points - The Wine Cellar Insider, Jeff Leve, May 2018. "Floral and tobacco nuances pop right up before moving on to the elegant textured, black cherry, licorice and crushed rock characteristics found here. The wine offers energy and purity in its fruits with soft tannins in the finish."
93 Points - Wine Review Online, Miranda Franco, June 2024. "A little over half a century ago, Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired Château Clerc Milon, the Fifth Growth, to reveal the full potential of this great terroir on the left bank of Bordeaux. The 2015 vintage of the Clerc Milon is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, and 1% Carmenere. It offers a gorgeous nose of sandalwood, cinnamon sticks, and candied violets. The palate is opulent with cassis, plum, blackberries, cedar, and spice. The finish reaffirms the pedigree with purity and tremendous length on the finish, and it is something to treasure for years to come."
