Marchesi di Barolo Coste di Rose Barolo DOCG 2014 750mL
Coste di Rose is a prestigious hill, fully exposed to the east, in the municipality of Barolo. The remarkable slope – more than 40% – favours the perfect ripening of the nebbiolo grapes, which are particularly demanding as regards light exposure and temperatures. The hill is situated in the geologic area dating back to the Serravallian age, but curiously the soil has a moderate limestone content, while it is particularly rich in quartz sand and very fine silt: so much so that fossil shells have been found during the normal cultivation activities. These peculiar characteristics give nebbiolo intense and refined scents, reminiscent of wild mint.
Grape Varietals:
100% Nebbiolo
Tasting Notes:
Ruby-red color tending to garnet. Intense perfume with clean scents of roses, licorice, spices and aromatic herbs. Full, elegant, and full-bodied flavor with recurring hints of the olfactory sensations. The soft color and the structure confirm it as an immediately pleasant, balanced and harmonious Barolo. The Barolo Coste di Rose reaches its maturity after 4 years from the harvest and matures further between 4 and 20 years.
Food Pairings:
An outstanding red wine for roasts, this Barolo combines exceptionally well with main courses of red meats, braised dishes and aged and piquant cheeses. When aged at length, it makes a superb sipping wine.
