With their Ironweed Straight Malt Whiskey, Albany Distilling Co. is reproducing the way whiskey tasted centuries ago in Ireland. They use grains grown by their New York State neighbors for a malt mash bill of 60% malted barley, 20% wheat and 20% oat. During a two year aging period in newly charred oak barrels, Ironweed Straight Malt Whiskey develops waves of notes, including oak and caramel, with bright hints of citrus.
