This Combo Pack contains 3 separate Cabernet Sauvignon's from individual vineyards under "The Debate", Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper, Beckstoffer To Kalon and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane.
2014 Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville:
Missouri Hopper is a spectacular vineyard situated in the hourglass of the Napa Valley, which gives it a cooler climate than neighboring To Kalon Vineyard due to the influence of the bay. Missouri Hopper yields Cabernet Sauvignon thathas a balance of ripeness and power with finesse and elegance. We believe this is one of the most exceptional sites Napa Valley has to offer.
Grape Varietal:
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Color:
Brilliant, shiny dark cherry with touches of Cornell red on the rim
On the nose:
Beautiful, elegant red fruit with white pepper, cherry, strawberries, dry basil, cherry ice cream, rosemary, graphite
On the palate:
Elegant but lush entrance evolving on a fresh mid-palate lingering on granular tannins with fresh cut cranberries, quince paste and watermelon candies
96 Points - The Wine Cellar Insider, Jeff Leve, September 2017. "A blast of minerality adds to the ocean of deep, dark, black fruits, licorice, smoke, vanilla bean and chocolate. Round and polished, sweet and fresh, there is length, vibrancy and a wealth of fruit here. The finish is all about the lift and sweet, black fruits. At slightly more than 15% ABV, there is no sensation of heat."
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2016.
2014 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville:
Nestled at the edge of the Mayacamas Mountains in the center of Napa Valley, To Kalon receives just enough morning fog and full day sun to produce Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with complex layers.
Grape Varietal:
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Color:
Shiny, dark black olives with royal velvet on the rim
On the nose:
Beautiful spices, cumin, thyme, tomato paste, tobacco leaf, cigar, cedar, granite, papaya, fresh cut strawberries
On the palate:
Dense but balanced entrance evolving on a big granular tannic frame lingering on fruit like dark cherries, violet, elderberry sorbet and griotte, banana, pomegranate
94 Points - Wine Enthusiast, November 2018. "Black licorice, ripe red cherry and dustings of graphite and clove contribute to this mighty, 100% varietal wine from the famous site. Concentrated power gives way to a streak of crushed rock minerality and hints of tobacco and cacao."
2014 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Helena:
Dr. Crane is situated on the west side of St Helena which has gravelly loamy soils and a very warm climate. Of all the sites, Dr. Crane is the warmest, and has the most extracted style. Because of this the wine has a very rich and velvety palate with candied fruit on the finish.
Grape Varietal:
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Color:
Deep, dark ink with magenta on the rim
On the nose:
Beautiful cedar, floral nose with wisteria, cinnamon, caramel, red cherries, orange, boysenberries with chocolate and ashes
On the palate:
Silky, soft entrance evolving on a lush but tannic mid-palate lingering on freshness with ripe dark cherries, plums, black licorice, soap bar, Maine blueberries, Mirabellle plum
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast, November 2018. "A 100% varietal, 100% barrel-fermented wine, given nearly two years in French oak, 70% of it new, this shows off the St. Helena site well, in its tight-grained intensity and smooth sizable tannins. Dried herb, lavender, black licorice and dark cherry coulis complement each other well, providing complexity and balance against the full-bodied concentration."
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2016.
