Tasting Notes:
Each vintage reflects the climatic conditions of that year, particularly when it is warm as it was in 2003. While some producers’ crops were damaged, Viberti benefited from the hight altitudes of its vineyards. On the nose, mineral traits come through and it expresses spicy and sweet notes. It is full-bodied with dry tannins and a pleasantly bitter finish. Enoy with hearty meat-based pasta dishes, game, and roasted red meats.
91 Points - James Suckling,"Very ripe strawberry aromas with hints of spice and licorice. Full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of ripe fruit and spice here. Needs time to soften. A little overly tannic. Better after 2022."
90 Points - Wine Spectator, December 2019. "Showing some development, with sweet cherry, truffle, mint and floral aromas and flavors, this is elegant, supported by a solid structure. The tannins are still a bit beefy on the finish, yet this has all the elements to find equilibrium in a few years. Best from 2022 through 2033."
