Gewürztraminer is a "cool climate" grape variety. That means the fruit retains its acidity through a long growing season through harvest. The result is a rich, aromatic, food-friendly wine.

We harvest the fruit for this wine when we believe it is at the optimal level of ripeness while still possessing sufficient acidity to yield a lively wine with the distinctive character of Gewürztraminer. The 2023 vintage was cool, but with dry, favorable conditions during the important months of September and October. We picked the fruit later than normal, due to these conditions. As a result, this wine possesses classic Gewürztraminer character for a dry style. Rather than floral characteristics, it has a bright, spicy flavor profile.

The 2023 vintage included extended September and October growing conditions that enabled the fruit to reach physiological ripeness. Harvests were later than usual, which allowed the fruit to develop flavor components that contribute to more complex, ageable wines.

Rated 90 points at the 2024 New York Wine Classic, designating it a gold medalist.
