Vineyard Notes:
the vineyard “Colonnello” is about 40-45 years old and, to maintain it, the vines are replanted from time to time. The main variety of Nebbiolo is Michet and its rootstock is 420 A
Grape Varietals:
Nebbiolo, Michet and Lampia varieties
Tasting Notes:
Extremely fascinating on the nose alternating notes of strawberries, red prunes, lavender, hibiscus, karkadè, linden blossom, lime peel and passionfruit. In the background herbaceous hints colour the matrix green. Full bodied, perfectly polymerized tannins and a warm, enveloping finale which shows volume and tension, extending in the best possible manner, leaving a great gustatory persistency.
96 Points - Falstaff, September 2018. "Brilliant ruby with a garnet rim. Very vivid and open nose, full of blackberry, ripe cherry, rose and cloves. Round and supple on the nose, fine tannin whose drive increases over time, fine savoury notes, firm drive on the finish."

93 Points - vvWine.ch, December 2017. "The Colonnello is usually the most accessible of Aldo Conterno's three vineyard Barolos. However, the 2014 was more reserved to us than its brother from the Cicala vineyard. 4 weeks on the mash, 29 months aged in wooden barrels and barriques. Radiant ruby. Intensely fragrant nose, very fascinating, aromas of pickled cherries, dark rose petals, violets, gingerbread spices, white pepper, cassis, with more air also red fruity aromas, very complex. Fresh and red fruity on the palate, distinctive but finely woven tannins, top structure, still very impetuous, very young, with juicy acidity, medium body, pure, fresh fruit, many red and dark cherries, some plum, blackberries. Very long in the finish. A very elegant, balanced wine baby with excellent facilities. 2022-2038."
