This wine is produced only in the best vintages from a careful selection of grapes from the Pianrosso vineyard and it has always been our most representative wine. From this single vineyard we also select the grapes for our Brunello Riserva.
Grape Varietal:
100% Sangiovese
Tasting Notes:
The bouquet is intense, complex, fruit-forward and spicy with hints or ripe red berry fruits enriched by various spicy notes. Warm, soft and harmonic on the palate. Great balance among pronounced tannins, acidity and savouriness. This elegant wine has great potential for further cellar ageing.
Colour:
Ruby red verging on garnet.
Food Pairings:
Great companion of stewed and roasted meat and game (such as hare, pheasant and wild boar). Excellent with mature cheeses.
96 Points -Falstaff, October 2022. "Bright, garnet red. Opens with distinctly fragrant notes of fresh dark cherry, some rose hip and fine rose petal, amazingly fresh notes. Round and supple on the palate, opens with beautifully ripe fruit notes, grippy tannins, very well placed."
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast, Kerin O’Keefe, April 2022. "This full-bodied red starts off with aromas of leather, forest floor and camphor. Enveloping and structured, the palate shows a weightless concentration, featuring dried cherry, licorice, tobacco and a hint of orange zest framed in velvety tannins. Drink 2024–2029."
93 Points - WinesCritic.com, Raffaele Vecchione, October 2021. "Extremely briiliant and mature in the glass showing notes of raspberries, currants, ripe cherries, red flowers, calendula, hawthorn and linden. A lot of citrus dominates the secondary scene and blend with hints of tobacco in this young Brunello. Full bodied, silky tannins and a warm, enveloping finale that gives pleasure in every sip. Slightly hot and spicy showing a subtle alcoholic perception in the aftertaste. Better from 2022."
