Grape Varietal:
100% Aglianico
Production Area:
Paternopoli (Av), Italy VINEYARD in the Pescocupo district on top of a hill on the south side of Paternopoli, with vines planted in 1957. A small vineyard of less than one hectare in the highest area of Aglianico at about 560 meters a.s.l. This windy vineyard uses a mixed radial system ('radial') and guyot. This soil tends more towards clay.
Organoleptic Characteristics:
Intense dark ruby concentrate when young, with greater garnet reflections over the years. An olfactory profile with clear references to violet, cherry and balsamic notes. The taste is full and fresh with medium tannins and an excellent length. This Taurasi DOCG cuvée is the most elegant of the three Taurasi DOCGs we produce, and like the Pian del Bosco cuvée it is produced only in selected years.
Food Pairings:
It accompanies the best roasts, game and slightly spicy dishes. It goes very well with aged cheeses and truffles.
93 Points - James Suckling, " Mineral and iron to the red cherries, blackberries and cured meat. Nicely fluid on the palate, with earthy savoriness to the juicy red fruit. Dry and assertive, with a long, elegant finish. Meaty savoriness at the end. Delicious now, but will hold, too."
