Barolo DOCG Classico Massolino represents the synthesis of the different characteristics that each terroir offers. We have always preferred the traditional aging in large Slavonian oak barrels to maintain a more sincere and pure identity. Wide and variable range of aromas, surprising expressive evolution over time.
Appearance:
garnet red with varying intensity depending on the vintage.
On the nose:
the grapes come from different vineyards and, for this reason, they give a very wide range of aromas that can range from captivating spicy notes to sweeter, floral and fruity ones.
On the palate:
there are many sensations, we are faced with a full-bodied, classic and well-structured wine that is not afraid of aging and represents the important character of our lands in an excellent way. It is advisable to roast it and drink it at a temperature of 18-20°C. It is best expressed when combined with red meats, especially game and game, and truffle dishes. Also excellent on first courses of egg pasta with meat sauces and risottos as well as with medium-aged cow's and goat's cheeses.
96 Points - Wine Enthusiast, tasted 2022. "In 2018 the estate didn't make its cru-specific bottlings so the best grapes are in this straight Barolo. And it shows. It opens with heady scents of eucalyptus, pine forest, hay, new leather and lilac. Extremely elegant, the savory, vibrant palate exhibits red cherry, juniper berry and star anise set against taut, refined tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2024–2033."
