Caparzo’s Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna la Casa can be considered a true enological gem, and not just in terms of Montalcino. La Casa derives its name from having been the farm where some of the tenant farmers who worked for the owners of Palazzo Montosoli, which is at a distance of a few hundred meters, lived. The first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa was produced in 1977. At the time little was known of terroir, and little attention was paid to the concept of zonation, which had only recently been introduced to Montalcino. In this case Caparzo was once again a pace setter, producing a “Single Vineyard” Brunello from one of the finest vineyards in the Appellation. With Brunello di Montalcino La Casa, Caparzo also was one of the first wineries to introduce barriques to Montalcino, producing a wine with a polite, elegant spirit. Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is the fruit of a unique terroir, and expresses all of Caparzo’s passion and experience in producing excellent wines.

94 Points - Vinous, January 1, 2005. "A beguiling mix of tobacco, dusty earth, ash and sage gives way to dried strawberries as the 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Casa slowly blossoms in the glass. Silky smooth with cooling acidity, it offers bright cherry-berry fruits complicated by rosy inner florals and hints of worn leather. A saline mineral tinge lingers as the 2004 finishes with spicy tension, no longer tannic yet still lively, with a twang of sour citrus mixing with licorice and a dusting of cocoa. Knowing how stern La Casa can be in its youth, this is a testament to its noble status among Montalcino crus."

93 Points - Wine Spectator, May 5, 2022. "Rich and dense, with black cherry, blackberry, licorice, and tar aromas and flavors. Dense and muscular, this red is still very fresh and long, with a tangy, savory finish.—Non-blind Altesino/Caparzo Retrospective (April 2022). Drink now through 2038. 1,665 cases made, 300 cases imported."

93 Points - Wine Advocate, November 7, 2024. "The Caparzo 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Casa feels the most concentrated in terms of mouthfeel. The wine reveals a special softness that is linked to oak aging, revealing spicy cinnamon and nutmeg along the way. The fruit is present and almost chewy in texture with baked cherry and blackberry. Given the wine's plush richness and sweetness, the acidity is balanced but it plays a less prominent role in this vintage."
